it was war - a tour through cologne
Together with komma4 architects and the Society Fortress Cologne cq cologne has developed a serie of tours through cologne under the title ' it was war - between historic and cultural heritage'.
As in more german cities, the sight of cologne changed enormously due to World War II. Naturally, most of these traces have been removed by post-war activities.
Still remnants of the war are visible, as reminders in / of the historic and cultural landscape. Should these meanwhile be part of the cultural Heritage?
The ' It was war' tours takes you on a trip through various parts of the cities and gives you the possibility to discover (and participate in) remnants again, even if they are not clearly visible at once.
In september 2009, the first series of tours have departed into the Northern part of Cologne, in the part called "Neustadt-Nord".
You can download the catalogue flyer and the tour itself (german language).
